Questions & Answers:
Q. What got you into lifting and how has it affected your life?
A. I played volleyball in high school and have always had a really competitive personality. I competed in Crossfit for a year but just recently made a change to Women’s Figure competition. It has affected my life in every good way possible. I’m more confident about myself in everyday life and it has strengthened me not only physically but mentally as well.
Q. If you could workout with one person in the world, who would it be and why?
A. If I could workout with one person in the world it would be Stacie Tovar, a multiple Crossfit Games athlete, she is such a sweet and humble individual and I feel like her and I have similar personalities.
Q. What tips would you give someone that is trying to learn how to do muscle ups?
A. For someone trying to learn to do bar muscle ups I would say the first thing to do is be patient with learning the movement. It’s a lot different than a lot of things you can do on a bar. First make sure you’re comfortable, and I mean really comfortable with pull-ups. Once you’re there, work on pushing the bar “down” vs. pulling the bar into you. Activate your lats and push down on the bar. Once you’ve mastered pushing down on the bar, the last part is getting your upper body over the bar as quickly as possible. it’s a matter of practice.
Q. What is your favorite leg workout and why?
A. My favorite leg workout is SQUATS. I mean what girl doesn’t want a nice butt? Squats not only work your legs, butt, hamstrings… They also stabilize your core and work on your abs as well -squats are the best!
