2018's 10 Best
Niacin, or Vitamin B3, is another water soluble Vitamin part of the B Vitamin family. It usually comes in three different forms: nicotinic acid, Niacinamide and Inositol Hexaniacinate. These forms are important, since the latter is known as the “flush free” form of Niacin.
Flushing is a term that describes the hot, tingling feeling that sometimes accompanies a skin reaction that looks rash-like in nature. While harmless, this feeling can be uncomfortable and is usually tolerated by lowering the dose levels. Aspirin or an anti-histamine is sometimes recommended until the body adjusts and a tolerance is formed.
Niacin provides a variety of benefits that include improved cholesterol levels, lowered cardiovascular risk, diabetes management, supported skin health, boosted brain function, and the prevention of birth defects. The recommended intake ranges from 14-16 milligrams daily, dependent on gender.
