It happens when you’re not expecting it. You go to the mirror one day expecting to see Thor, and instead you see a tired guy sagging in the middle.

“We came across this by accident,” explains Dr. Farid Saad, lead author of the study. “These men were being given testosterone for a hormone deficiency – they had a range of problems – erectile dysfunction, fatigue and lack of energy. . .When we analyzed the data we found that every year, for five years, they had lost weight.”
Experts are still uncertain whether the testosterone itself triggered weight loss, but Dr. Saad surmises, “It may be that the increased testosterone restored their energy levels and led to a behavioral change of being more physically active.”
However, testosterone and body weight are definitely linked. This crucial hormone is essential for building muscle and losing fat, so it’s important to keep testosterone levels up if you want to keep your youthful physique.
Testosterone Helps You Keep Your Youth
Testosterone is essential for more than weight loss. For men, testosterone is an important hormone that affects various parts of the body. As you get older and testosterone levels drop you may notice the following:
- loss of lean muscle mass
- reduced fat metabolism
- problems with sexual health
- lower physical energy and vitality
- diminished overall health
Additionally, men who suffer from low testosterone have a higher risk for several health problems.
“Low testosterone may lead to a greater risk of death,” explains Supinda Bunyavanich, MD. “Men with low testosterone had a 33 percent greater death risk over their next 18 years of life compared with men who had higher testosterone.”

How a Testosterone Supplement Works

And that doesn’t include testosterone supplements purchased over the counter or via the mail.”
You should note, however, legal supplements do not contain the actual hormone. They are not the hormone replacement therapy you receive from a doctor and won’t give you the same results.
Instead, testosterone supplements work with your body to stimulate testosterone production as well as influence various other factors that contribute to weight loss.
