What Are Ketones and What is Their Purpose?


Ketones are chemical compounds produced in the liver. Their main objective is to be used as an alternative source of energy when the body’s insulin reserves are low. Here’s how the process works. The main source of energy for most of the body’s key physiological functions is glucose.
